  A Male Pileated Visits

I had a very nice surprise today in the yard; a male Pileated Woodpecker finally came through.  I've never been able to capture a male on film, so I was very excited!  There was a pair, initially, but the female flew off while the male continued to check out several trees - and even stopped up close for some bark butter and suet.

Oh, and I saw a pair of Blue-winged Warblers 3 days in a row now!  No pictures, though - each time I laid eyes (or binoculars) on them, it was at a time I couldn't get to my camera in time.  Hopefully, they'll be back!

I have a mystery sparrow that I'm posting photos of.  I THINK it may be a young Song Sparrow.  Any guesses?  I'd love an ID...

Check out baby Chipping Sparrows! Adults at this point still have a mostly rusty cap instead of the stripes they will have very soon for winter. Looks like Chipping Sparrow.

Chipping Sparrow! Yes, of course - thanks, Marilyn! That creamy patch on his breast fooled me.
