Chirps and Cheeps

An afternoon walk through Tifft Nature Preserve was just the "therapy" I needed!  There was a surprising amount of bird activity and I enjoyed the many kinglets, Yellow-rumped Warblers, and a few late migrants.

The most surprising late migrant was a Warbling Vireo. eBird flagged that bird and I submitted a Noteworthy Record with a write-up and sent it along with photos to the BOS.

The locally "famous" young Red-tailed Hawk that frequents the preserve gave me quite a show as he flew over the marsh in my direction, seeming to come straight at me.  I was mesmerized.  I wish I had my wits about me to pull my camera up to my face, but instead, I helplessly stared, transfixed by the vision as it grew in size slowly flapping its wings as it stared right back at me. The hawk veered off at the last moment and perched in a nearby tree. When I snapped out of it, I kicked myself for not taking advantage of a great photo op, but I must admit, I was completely under its hypnotic spell.
