Celeste and I had fun at the pond at Lakeside Beach SP the other evening. A Baird's Sandpiper had been found by Greg Lawrence (I believe) and Willie had seen the bird the day before and gave us perfect directions on how to find it. Sure enough, Celeste picked him out with her scope fairly quickly. He must have been tired (a long flight from the Arctic, no doubt) and spent most of our observation time resting.

Other shorebirds at the pond included a Short-billed Dowitcher, 3 Stilt Sandpipers, 2 Solitary Sandpipers, Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs, some Least and Semipalmated Sandpipers, Killdeer, and Semipalmated Plovers. Blue and Green-winged Teal were there and a Great Egret gave us a nice flyover.

A couple of days later, I did some hiking around Hamlin Beach and found my First of Year Gray-cheeked Thrush. A Blue-headed Vireo was very cooperative for my camera and there were quite a few warblers and Brown Creepers around.
