  A Fox Sparrow at Home

When I walked into my office at 6:30 this morning, I checked out the feeders, as usual. If I had been chewing gum, I would have swallowed it - a FOX SPARROW - a long sought after nemesis bird was there foraging under the feeders like it was an every day thing...  WOW!

There was heavy cloud cover and with it being so early, there was very little light - so I pumped up the ISO on my camera and began taking as many photos as I could while s/he stayed (356, to be exact - lucky they're digital!).  Out of all those photos, a few were actually more decent than I had hoped.

A Chipping Sparrow, a FOY, showed up during this photo frenzy too, so I grabbed a few shots of that little guy as well. I'm also including a female Purple Finch (the male arrived at our feeders a few days earlier - and I finally saw a female just yesterday) and another shot of a Common Redpoll.  The redpolls persist in numbers around 24-30.  I'm quite amazed they're still here every, single day.

So, my hunt for a Fox Sparrow is over; if I could only find my other nemesis bird, the American Woodcock!

What a nice surprise for you this morning! He/she is quite pretty. Glad some shots came out nice. So cool you can identify the birds so adeptly now. Excited for you!
