A short walk through Tifft before work this cold and rainy morning didn't bring the hoped-for numbers of warblers we were anticipating. We did see a Magnolia, Nashville, and Canada - along with a few other nice sightings (Pileated Woodpecker, Great Egrets, Black-crowned Night Heron, and a Cooper's Hawk).
Later in the day, though, our yard must have been blessed with a little warbler fallout! As I was making my lunch, I happened to catch a little flash of yellow out in the woods. I grabbed my sandwich AND my camera and went out to see. Wow. I couldn't make up my mind where to focus my eyes or my camera. Warblers were hopping, foraging, chirping and cheeping all around me. As they moved through our little woods, I moved with them as best and as long as I could, grabbing as many photos as the dim light and their quick movements would allow.
Add to all that chatter a Red-eyed Vireo, a Carolina Wren, many cardinals, jays, and goldfinches, chickadees, catbirds, and robins - and you can probably imagine the noise level and confusion of it all! I don't think our woods has seen that much fun in a long time!
Pardon the photos; it was a gray, rainy day and my ISO settings were high...
