After a few days of almost balmy weather here in Buffalo, the cold and the snow descended on us once again. It's hard to believe I was sitting on my deck early yesterday morning in just jeans and a sweater, enjoying the sounds of the birds as they awakened. Alas, winter is back!
The House Finches have been coming to the feeders very regularly now - up to a dozen of them at a time. I still marvel at their beauty. I was happy to see the Brown Creeper today and even/ managed a halfway decent photo of him.
Today also brought:
- House Finch - 8
- Brown Creeper - 1
- American Goldfinch - 7
- Tufted Titmouse - 6
- Black-capped Chickadee - 7
- American Tree Sparrow - 3
- Northern Cardinal - 3
- Junco - 6
- Red-breasted Nuthatch - 1
- White-breasted Nuthatch - 2
- Red-bellied Woodpecker - 1
- Downy Woodpecker - 1
This shot of the Brown Creeper made my day!
Male House Finch
Looks like he was spinning his seed!
They're even pretty from the back!
An American Goldfinch just hangin' in the snow
This Red-bellied Woodpecker kept returning for the bark butter I just bought. It seems to be a hit!
A male Downy Woodpecker climbs up the maple tree on the side of the house
A Red-breasted Nuthatch liked the bark butter too
A Tufted Titmouse
I so enjoy the songs of the American Tree Sparrows
