Year Firsts: Yellow Warbler in Batavia and Savannah Sparrow in Clarence

I wanted to get a little birding in before the next few days of poor weather arrived. I made a circuit of Kumpf Marsh, Batavia Wastewater Treatment Plant, Tillman Road WMA, Como Park, and Emery Park.

Each place had some nice findings and brought two year-firsts for me: Yellow Warbler and Savannah Sparrow. I've been looking hard for both of those species and am glad to have finally found them. The Yellow Warbler was mingling with two Yellow-rumped Warblers. I've been seeing quite a few of the Yellow-rumpeds in the last few days and I think we'll be finding more Yellows soon too; at least I'm hoping the rainy week ahead doesn't keep them!
