An American Avocet and a Cinnamon Teal

We had two nice rarities pop into our region this past week.
On the 20th, an escaped albeit, unproven, Cinnamon Teal was seen on a Buffalo Ornithological Society field trip at the Batavia Wastewater Treatment Plant. I went to see it only because it's such a beautiful bird (a gorgeous male) and they are very rare for our region. I only saw one once before on my 2015 trip to Arizona.
And today, only four days later, local birder, Mike Zebehazy, found a lone American Avocet in a small pond in the Hamburg / Woodlawn area. I had been looking hard for this species since July and never did catch up to one. Although they are much prettier in the summer months, I was still thrilled to get the chance to see one again. Thanks, Mike!
