Chirps and Cheeps

This past week, when I had some opportunity, I tried a little birding here and there - mostly south and east.

At Dunkirk, I checked the harbor and Wright Park Beach - hoping to find anything unusual. The only bird of interest was a Solitary Sandpiper, all by its lonesome on Wright Park Beach.

At Batavia Waste Water Treatment Plant, the nice find by Kurt Fox was still present: a male Eared Grebe still in breeding plumage.  I just wish he had been a little more cooperative and had come closer to the edge of the pond!

In East Aurora, at Sinking Ponds, I enjoyed a Belted Kingfisher for awhile and then found a single Spotted Sandpiper that was very cooperative. Unfortunately, though, as I was taking photos, a Red-tailed Hawk decided to make an appearance, flushing everything in the vicinity.  At least I had already gotten a few photos!
