  Traipsing After a Red-tailed Hawk

On my way back from our tax accountant's office yesterday afternoon, I happened to see a majestic hawk up in the trees alongside the 219. I quickly got off and got back onto the highway and pulled-over alongside where this beautiful creature was perched.  Lo and behold, its mate swooped down close by as well. Fearing the rush hour traffic, I didn't want to get out of my car, so I opened my skylight and began shooting as the passing traffic rocked and shook my little car.

The hawks turned out to be Red-tailed hawks and were pretty tolerant of my photographic efforts. The late afternoon sun didn't help, but I still managed to capture a few decent photos.

I was dazzled by the bounteous feathers they have. It almost seemed like the one was wearing a fluffy billowy coat. Amazing and beautiful!

Wow! What a beautiful creature! I can't believe you got those shots from inside your car on the side of the highway. Amazing! Great work!
