Mystery Solved!

I've been excited quite a few times lately thinking I may be seeing a new species at our feeders. But I just found out that what I'm seeing is a juvenile male House Finch. He travels along with the finches, so I began to suspect as much. I've seen him several times now and, instead of red, there's a yellow-orange coloring on his breast and head.
Audubon's Guide confirmed that it's an immature male. I've grabbed several photos of him over the last month, so I thought I'd post them in the event anyone else has been confused over this strange coloring.
Thanks so much for the comment on my blog today Sue! I love your blog and hope I can learn more from you about those wonderful little birds which share our property with us. Yesterday we had an unusually warm day here in St. Louis and when I walked outside I heard birds singing. I told my husband "listen - they are singing about spring". A fierce winter storm is heading our way so I was glad I got to hear them if it was only for a moment! Enjoy your day. deb
