It was fun around the feeders today. One of the nice things about being rather new to birding is that life list additions happen more frequently. Today, I got to add TWO birds to my list: a Northern Flicker and European Starling. The Flicker was pretty far away so the photos aren't great, but they definitely confirm the sighting.
I understand the starlings usually travel in large flocks, but this one was solo and when he came back later on in the day he was still alone.
A large Red-tailed Hawk flew over several times today - low. I was concerned he was scoping out the feeders since it's been so cold and food is probably scarce for him. No harm done, fortunately, but unfortunately, I was unsuccessful in my attempts to grab some photos of this marvelous bird.

European Starling: The first life list bird to show today. This appears to be a male by the blue'ish tint to his beak and he appeared to be travelling alone.
My second life list bird day, the Northern Flicker - Yellow Shafted. It's a poor photo, but you can still make out the the berries he's reaching for.
Brown Creeper: I've only seen this guy creep up our huge pine tree in the back before, so I was surprised to see him on this maple today.
Female Northern Cardinal. She posed nicely; don't you think?
Male Downy Woodpecker, a regular at our feeders.
White-breasted Nuthatch grabs a seed.
American Goldfinch strikes a nice pose.
Tufted Titmouse perches amid the flurries.
