Another early migrant showed up yesterday, a male Pine Warbler. Last year, we had one come by on April 13th (
photos here) - but probably due to our unseasonably warm spring in WNY, this little guy is two weeks earlier!
I first noticed him at the suet, with many reappearances. He then seemed to prefer the seed cake, nibbling coming back and forth to it every few minutes. Eventually, he stayed with the bark butter, with many return visits to that. It was a rather rainy day and I suspect insects were in short supply. Or may he needed some extra fat to continue his spring migration journey. In either case, I was happy to oblige him, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner at our Barth Bird Bistro!

Enjoying the suet
Back for more suet
Here, he's trying the seed cake
More seed cake, please!
Now he's tasting the bark butter
And this is what he stuck with for the rest of the day
He came out a little backlit and the lighting was starting to fade, but it's still a decent picture...
