Knox Farm - Boblinks!

The other day when I was at
Tifft Nature Preserve visiting the
White Pelican, John Barton suggested I visit Knox Farm to see the Bobolinks that live there. Last night, I decided to give it a try and see what I could see...
At first, I didn't see a sign of them. "Head straight on out from the parking area", he told me. So, I did just that, and, staying on the path, I climbed the grassy hill, thoroughly enjoying the scenery, the calls from the Red-winged Blackbirds, the oodles of Tree Swallows swooping around me, and the beautiful evening sunshine. After a little while, I realized some of these "black birds" weren't Red-winged Blackbirds at all. And the sounds were way different! I began to see the Bobolinks springing up from the fields, taking flight, almost "dancing" with one another at times, and then acrobatically do a fly-by me and pop back down into the field. Wow!
I was able to capture a few photos of them - AND got to add another life-lister too: a gorgeous Savannah Sparrow!
