I always thought the Red-bellied Woodpecker was mis-named. It wasn't until recently, when I read a comment on
Jim Adams' blog, that the Red-bellied Woodpecker really does have a red belly! No kidding??!!! Apparently, it's not seen all that often, though, and I've been trying hard ever since I read about it to get my own look-see. I finally saw it - and even captured a fair picture of it!!! Jim's photos give a better view, but here's a glimpse for any unbelievers out there!
